I recall reading a game article many years ago. The Banoi Butcher was actually supposed to be a Thug/Butcher hybrid. But they scrapped that idea because it would have put the final boss, The Colonel, to shame.
As fast and relentless as a normal Butcher, including the ability to dodge attacks. Yet as strong and resilient as a Thug, incapable of being knocked down and impervious to gunfire, explosives, fire, electricity, bleeding, and toxic buffs. The player literally had only the melee weapon in his hands to fight with against this beast, originally. Then they took it all back and put a normal human that can die with 1 bullet.
